THE BEST ECO-FRIENDLY HOT TUBS: CONSIDER A SALT WATER SYSTEM

Thursday, September 12th, 2019

A large, seven-seat hot tub holds around 450 gallons of water. That might seem like a lot of water, but when you consider the fact that an average person sends around 100 gallons per day down their drains as a result of household activities, it’s really not.

A home hot tub holds about four days worth of water. However, because that water is sanitized and run through filters repeatedly, it can last quite a while before it needs to be drained and replaced. But if you’re ecologically conscious or live in a drought-prone area, you may still feel a few pangs of guilt when draining your hot tub every few months, even though you’ve put that water to good use. Fortunately, the best eco-friendly hot tubs today include water care systems that allow you to conserve more water and spend more time enjoying your hot tub. Here’s how to find the best one for you.

THE BEST ECO-FRIENDLY HOT TUB IS THE PERFECT SIZE

The first step in buying an environmentally friendly hot tub is to find one sized perfectly for your needs. Your home spa will be part of your daily routine, so it should be comfortable and have plenty of space for those who use it. Considering the following points will help you choose a hot tub that’s perfect for you and your family and conserves both water and energy:

  • How will you use your spa? If you live alone and the main purpose of your hot tub is to relax your muscles after a long run or workout, then much of your hot tub use will be solo. A two-seat hot tub or three-seat hot tub will provide you with the therapeutic benefits of warm water immersion and extra seats for company.
  • The importance of jet configurations. In many hot tubs, different seats offer different jet configurations. If you intend to use your spa to relieve pain or soreness then you may need to consider extra seats or a lounger to have a full range of hot tub hydrotherapy benefits.
  • Family benefits. A spa is great for creating quality time with your familyFour-seat hot tubs are perfect for a family of three, while families of four may want to consider a six-seat model.

Choosing a hot tub that is the correct size is just one way to enjoy all the benefits of a home spa while being eco-conscious. To take resourcefulness to the next level, choose a spa that’s not only the perfect size, but also energy efficient.

THE BEST ECO-FRIENDLY HOT TUBS SAVE ENERGY

High-quality hot tubs that are designed to reduce energy use and energy costs include a number of energy-efficient features, such as:

  • Dedicated circulation pumps that continuously circulate the hot water and use less energy than main pumps. Your spa water remains warm and it’s filtered by a smaller pump than the one that gives the jets their force.
  • A pump shroud that helps facilitate the transfer of heat produced by the pump operating into the water.
  • Perimeter insulation that keeps the cabinet warm but allows heat from the heater and pump to help warm the water.
  • Total foam insulation, layered in different densities, that fills gaps and prevents hot air leaks, which can cool the spa and force the heater to run more often.
  • An insulated hot tub cover that prevents heat from escaping from the water and keeps your hot tub warm and ready to use.

Energy efficiency not only benefits the environment but also your wallet. Keeping your hot tub water warm around the clock uses less energy than heating it up immediately after refilling, and that translates to lower utility bills.

THE BEST ECO-FRIENDLY HOT TUBS EXTEND WATER LIFE AND ARE SIMPLER TO MAINTAIN

Hot tubs with traditional water care systems require draining and refilling a few times a year. But spas with eco-friendly salt water systems extend water life for up to a year.

The new FreshWater™ Salt System*, available on 2019 Highlife® Collection and Limelight® Collection spas from Hot Spring®, is the simplest and most effective hot tub salt water chlorine generator. It will keep water fresh and sanitary for a full year with normal use before it needs to be drained and refilled. Heavy use of the spa can make an early water replacement necessary. This system not only saves on water use, but also extends on energy efficiency. It takes much more energy to heat new water to the perfect temperature than to keep warm water heated.

The easy-to-maintain FreshWater™ Salt System—the best salt water system for home spas—is factory integrated and titanium cartridge-based. Chlorine is generated at a steady rate from salts contained in the cartridge. Each cartridge lasts four months, and is easily replaced directly from your spa’s bar top in seconds. Simpler water care with the FreshWater™ Salt System means spending less time maintaining your spa and more time enjoying it. The low levels of chlorine will also reduce the level of chemicals and chemical odors in your hot tub.

Finally, the water in your spa can be reused as gray water to irrigate your landscaping or wash your car, if that’s allowed in your area. But you have to let the chemicals dissipate first. You shouldn’t use the water if the chlorine count is higher than 0.1 part per million (ppm) or if the water is too acidic (below a pH of 6.5) or too alkaline (with a pH of 7.8). Turning the system off and letting the chlorine dissipate from your spa over a few days should bring the chlorine count down to a safe level.

The FreshWater™ Salt System combined with the usual dedication to energy efficiency you find in all Hot Spring spas makes for the very best eco-friendly hot tubs manufactured.

Hot Tub Enclosures For Every Season

Wednesday, August 28th, 2019

Does the weather stop you from enjoying your home hot tub? Perhaps the snow or rain disrupt your plans to walk out into the yard and relax in the warm water. One of the greatest joys of owning a hot tub is warming up in the water throughout the winter months—when you can make it happen. Maybe it’s the hot sun that overwhelms you during your daily soak. Regardless of the season, don’t let unexpected weather forecasts or season-long extremes get in the way of your well-deserved hydrotherapy.

A hot tub enclosure may be just the thing to resist the elements and allow you to enjoy the warmth and massaging jets of your spa all year round, whatever the weather may bring.

Your first step is to consult with an expert who can point you in the direction of your building, plumbing, and electrical needs. A hot tub enclosure can provide long-term shelter and enjoyment but only if done carefully and correctly. Turn to expert contractors for up-to-code construction and a spa enclosure that is specifically suited to your home.

WHAT DO TEMPORARY HOT TUB ENCLOSURES HAVE TO OFFER?

For shade and portability, a spa side umbrella is better than temporary hot tub enclosures.Image result for covana

When you’re searching for a hot tub enclosure, one of the first things you’re likely to come across are temporary options. These are typically lightweight structures that snap or bolt together and are covered with a waterproof cloth. Temporary enclosures provide shade, but as they’re usually open-sided, they do not provide much protection from the wind or other elements. In cases of extreme weather, you may need to pack up these temporary hot tub enclosures to avoid damage.

A spa side umbrella may be a better choice if you’re looking for shade and minimal shelter. It is a less-expensive option than a temporary hot tub enclosure, and it is anchored by a steel plate that slides beneath the spa. It is more solid than temporary structures held down by stakes, and you can easily put it into storage in cases of severe weather.

A spa side umbrella can shield you from the sun and light rain. If you’re looking for an all-season hot tub enclosure, you may need something more permanent that fully surrounds the hot tub.

A Covana automated gazebo cover is another great option. They are completely automated gazebos which offer you maximum comfort, safety and intimacy. You can order them with different backdrops or shades. In the turn of a key your hot tub or swim spa can turn itself from a locked down cover to a beautiful gazebo for privacy.

BUILDING HOT TUB ENCLOSURES TO RESIST THE WEATHER

For year-round protection of your hot tub space, your options include pre-made structures or enclosures and additions built precisely for your needs. Pre-made hot tub enclosures range from bolt-together structures of metal or plastic with windows and screens to kits that include everything to construct a free-standing building in your yard. Home additions are more permanent solutions, but they give you the flexibility to customize your hot tub enclosure.

Whatever you decide is the best hot tub enclosure for you, remember that all work should be done by a qualified contractor, electrician (Iowa’s preferred), or plumber with the skills to do the job. You want to relax safely and comfortably for the long term while enjoying everything your hot tub enclosure has to offer, so be sure that it’s built correctly and to code.

Here are some very important things to keep in mind before you build:

  • The foundation of any hot tub enclosure is critical. A permanent enclosure will stand outside all year long, and how well it is grounded will determine how well it resists the weather.
  • A hot tub enclosure must provide enough space to be safely wired. When wiring a 240 volt hot tub, you’ll need to be aware of special code requirements. This includes a GFCI switch that must be at least five feet away but clearly visible from the hot tub.
  • Ventilation for the steam that comes from the hot tub. The warm water from a spa creates a lot of humidity, which can collect on the inside of your room or other enclosure. To avoid related complications, it’s important to ensure that your hot tub enclosure has adequate ventilation. We’ll discuss steps to installing proper ventilation below.

Prefabricated hot tub enclosures must be large enough to accommodate safe electrical requirements. And they may have limited flexibility for wiring, ventilation, and other fixtures. But this might be the right choice if you’re looking for a less-than-permanent option.

Home additions and from-scratch structures may offer more customizability when checking off the necessary foundational, electrical, and ventilation requirements. And you may have many creative and flexible options to adapt a hot tub enclosure. An uncovered patio can be easily roofed over. The posts that hold up this roof can be framed in to create a wall for more complete shelter. Often, a power outlet is already available for you to plug in a hot tub. If you’re planning to wire your spa directly to the home’s power, then this lead is already in place and an electrician can change it to run at 240 volts and place the GFCI in a safe location. Powering a ventilation fan is also easier when the connections are already there.

ENSURING PROPER VENTILATION FOR YOUR HOT TUB ENCLOSURE

One of the most important things to be aware of is ventilation—whether you’re dealing with a hot tub enclosure, a home addition, or putting your hot tub in a basement. The high humidity your hot tub creates can be damaging to these structures.

In a warm environment, you can open the windows of your hot tub enclosure after you are done using your hot tub and let the steam out. In the middle of a cold winter, this is probably not a good solution because the water can simply freeze to the interior surfaces of the enclosure. Conversely, in a humid environment like Florida or the southeast, opening up the windows will not help because the environment outside may have more moisture than the interior.

A powered ventilation system is the key to a truly all-season hot tub enclosure. These are inexpensive and available at any home improvement store. They mount directly over the hot tub or in an exterior wall of the hot tub enclosure to allow the venting of excess moisture with the flip of a switch. An expert building contractor will be able to determine the best ventilation solution for your home and your best hot tub experience.

When you’ve taken the necessary precautions, a hot tub enclosure gives you the opportunity to relax and soak regardless of the weather conditions outside. In winter, you can marvel at the way snow smooths over the imperfections you normally see. In the pouring rain, you can relax while listening to your hot tub playlists or to the rain on the roof. The secret is simply to build a hot tub enclosure the right way and to match it with a hot tub that is well-built and equally reliable.

How a Daily Hot Tub Soak Can Help Improve Physical Wellness

Tuesday, August 6th, 2019
Physical wellness includes finding ways to connect with loved ones each day.

Physical wellness starts in the healthy habits we form—eating nutritious meals, treating yourself well, getting a good night’s sleep, and living in motion, whether that means taking sunset walks in the park a few days a week, participating in team sports, or engaging in vigorous workouts. Daily soaks in your hot tub can also contribute to a healthy lifestyle, preparing you for the day ahead or helping you to unwind and sleep better in the evening. As the cornerstone of your health-focused lifestyle, your hot tub can improve physical wellness through its many benefits that allow you to recharge, reconnect, and recuperate.

HOW TO IMPROVE AND ENJOY PHYSICAL WELLNESS THROUGH HYDROTHERAPY

To experience wellness is to feel good about your actions and your overall health. Taking the first steps to improve your physical wellness doesn’t mean you need to enter triathlons. Instead, it’s about being dedicated to making the most of the time in your day and being thoughtful and active in the process. If you work in an office, you might consider getting up to stretch more often and taking a walk on your lunch hour. If you live close to your job, think about walking or biking to work. If you’re a parent, set time aside to play outside with your kids and reconnect with them when you get home.

The point is, you don’t have to change your life drastically or push yourself to a quick extreme. Wellness isn’t a sprint. To accomplish your wellness goals, use what you already have in your life, including your hot tub.

Hot tub hydrotherapy, the combined therapeutic effects of heat, buoyancy, and massage, can improve your health, especially when enjoyed as part of a daily routine. When your hot tub becomes the cornerstone of healthy habits, you feel better—physically and mentally. Warm water immersion relaxes your muscles, buoyancy reduces tension on joints and eases aches and pains, and jet massage can work out knots caused by hard work or stress. Daily soaks can also help improve your emotional wellness.

With a home spa, the restorative benefits of hydrotherapy are yours whenever you desire. Moreover, a hot tub at the center of your wellness routine can inspire you to stick with your wellness plan and create other healthy habits, such as enjoying a healthy breakfast and a workout before or after a morning soak or in the evening before bed.

A GOOD NIGHT’S SLEEP WILL INSPIRE PHYSICAL WELLNESS

Physical wellness includes getting the rest you need. A good night’s sleep provides many benefits and allows you to wake up refreshed and ready to go. With proper rest, you think more clearly and welcome the day because a tired body isn’t dragging you down.

A warm soak can help you sleep better if you suffer from common sleep ailments, such as insomnia, and help relieve the day’s stress and naturally ease your body into sleep. After a good night’s sleep, a morning soak can invigorate you and prepare you mentally for even the most trying day.

When making physical wellness a priority, you can feel good about yourself every day. Soaking in a spa daily to receive all of the benefits of hydrotherapy can help you stay physically and mentally fit. No matter what your wellness routine is, with your hot tub as the cornerstone, you’ll be better able to make the most of your days and your overall lifestyle.

With a Hot Spring spa, you can make every day the best day of your life. To learn more about our hot tubs, request our brochure.

HYDROTHERAPY – WHAT IS IT?

In its basic form, hydrotherapy is a type of warm or cold water massage that helps relieve pain. Hydrotherapy uses the temperature and pressure of water to offer relief from symptoms. While hydrotherapy can take many forms, often it uses under water jetted massage (as in a hot tub).

WHEN WAS HYDROTHERAPY INVENTED?

Hydrotherapy dates back to Ancient Greece. Hippocrates documented his early use of hydrotherapy and referred to the treatment as hydropathy. The Greeks were not the only people to use hydrotherapy. Hydrotherapy was also used by the Ancient Chinese, Roman, and Egyptian civilizations. Hydrotherapy gained popularity over time and came to the United States in the 1840s. Hydrotherapy has evolved in the United States, and now encompasses many different forms. People love hydrotherapy so much that they even started using it to treat their dogs. Today there are even canine hydrotherapy facilities across the country.

HOW IS HYDROTHERAPY PRACTICED?

There are many techniques that people use to enjoy hydrotherapy benefits. A simple and common technique is the use of a cold or hot compress for muscle pain, headaches, or fevers. Wraps, like compresses, involve wrapping a water soaked sheet around a part of the body. A second layer of towels or hot blankets added to the wrap can treat anything from a fever to skin disorders. Hot tubs and spas are a huge part of hydrotherapy practices and offer many benefits. The hot water helps relieve sore muscles, and sports-related injuries. It may provide temporary relief for arthritis symptoms. The jet streams help ease other types of symptoms, including emotional or mental stress. Hot tubs are a great way to enjoy hydrotherapy benefits at home. When a person’s body is completely submerged in water, they have a weightless feeling.. This relief from the pressure of gravity gives muscles and joints a respite from pain. Exercising in water also takes this concept of weightlessness and applies it to activity. Water based exercise reduces pressure on joints and muscles.

WHAT ARE THE HEALTH BENEFITS OF HYDROTHERAPY?

At its most basic level, hydrotherapy can help relieve stress and assist people to relax and let go of worry. Hydrotherapy also reduces aches and pains including sore muscles, and joint stiffness.

Some hydrotherapy benefits may include:

  • increase blood flow in the body

  • reduce aches and pains of sore muscles

  • relieve joint stiffness

  • ease common cold symptoms (clearing airways)

  • assist with issues related to hypertension

  • relief from headaches

Hydrotherapy is a long, storied practice that can assist people in many ways. One of the easiest ways to practice hydrotherapy is to bring a hot tub into your own home and use it daily. Hot tubs are one of the most common ways to reap the wellness benefits of hydrotherapy!

Backyard Camping!

Thursday, June 20th, 2019
Does your family love camping but you can’t find the time to get away? Or does the thought of loading up the car with all those supplies for a quick weekend stop you in your tracks? Why not create your own backyard camping trip that the kids (and you) will never forget?
The first thing you need is a tent big enough to fit the entire family. If you need to upgrade your accommodations or add a tent to your supplies, here are some great and affordable options for you to consider.

Stock up on easy-to-cook outdoor foods that the entire family can prepare together. And, of course, you have to prepare for the s’mores adventure! Check out 101 stress free camping foods to cook,

So, let’s recap:

Food

✔ | DejaVu Sans, Book

Lodging

✔ | DejaVu Sans, Book

S’mores

✔ | DejaVu Sans, Book

Now what?

To keep the kids entertained we would suggest some backyard games like bocce ball, washer toss, bag toss, and Wiffle ball. Use this as an excuse to add some new yard games to your supply like giant Jenga or Connect Four.

Some of these games are great for the parents as well, but you should try to carve out some time to relax. Installing a hammock is a great way to go.

Once the sun has set and the last s’more has been devoured, it’s time for some evening entertainment. Drape a white cloth in the darkest part of the yard and project a movie for all to enjoy. Better yet, just add water to create your own float-n-flick experience. Hot tubs are a great way to pull the family together for a memorable, relaxing experience on any budget and any backyard size. With plug’n’play models, all you need is a standard outlet to heat the water. No special wiring or electrical configuration required! Plus, the hot tub will be enjoyed well beyond the weekend camping trip.

Don’t have a hot tub yet? You will be surprised how affordable it can be. Check out our Freeflow Spas to learn more. Evaluate your options–from 2-person hot tubs to a 7-seater large enough for your entire family to enjoy together. You can even schedule a test soak!

Hot tubs can even be financed for low monthly payments that are way less than a weekend trip to the campground. Plus, you will benefit from the stress-reducing, family bonding, and personal escape of your very own hot tub any time you want.

Happy Camping (and Hot Tubbing!) 😊

CREATING QUALITY TIME: THE BENEFITS OF SPENDING TIME WITH FAMILY IN A HOT TUB

Friday, May 24th, 2019

When you have a loving partner and family, you come home to people you respect, admire, and support. If you have young children, you are provided with endless opportunities to see the world through their eyes and marvel at the things you take for granted as an adult.

There’s no substitute for the joy a family can bring, but caring for the people you love most isn’t always easy. You work hard professionally and at home to solve problems that arise and provide your partner and children with all they need. But a busy, demanding life can mean that you don’t always get to spend quality time with your family. So, you have to create that time. A home hot tub can help you do just that, as it provides a distraction-free environment in which you can reconnect with your partner and kids while letting them know exactly how much they mean to you.

RECONNECTING WITH YOUR SPOUSE THROUGH RELAXATION

When was the last time you really talked to your partner? Sure, you might ask how the day went, but do you ask about other things that might concern them— their thoughts and opinions that go beyond the kids, work, and errands? Are there things you wish your partner would ask you about?

Making time for conversation to check in with one another mentally and emotionally can make a strong relationship even stronger and confirm all of the reasons you were first drawn to each other.

Starting that conversation in a relaxing environment such as a hot tub can provide the comfort you both may need. Plus, if you make the time to soak together regularly, you may find that reconnecting with your spouse becomes a welcome part of a whole new wellness routine. Regular hot tub use offers wellness benefits that can enhance your mood and your overall quality of life. For example:

  • Daily hot tub use can help you sleep better. A lack of sleep can cause you to become frustrated more easily. But getting a full eight hours of restful sleep can help you be your best self.
  • A relaxing soak can help reduce the accumulated stress of daily life. Twenty minutes of hydrotherapy offers health benefits including relief of muscle aches, joint pain, and tension.
  • Practicing the art of hot tub relaxation with the family can be a bonding experience. Taking the time to relax and even meditate as a family can renew your appreciation for one another.

When you’re rested and free of the tension and soreness that can accumulate in daily life, you may find that you’re more able to give your partner and children the attention they deserve. You might even notice that they’re more appreciative of you in return. This can be a great benefit, especially when your kids are on their way to becoming young adults. So plan a hot tub date night and get to relaxing!

A HOT TUB CAN HELP TWEENS AND TEENS RELAX AND OPEN UP

One of the things you and your spouse may worry about is spending too little time with your growing children. Your kids need your attention, especially adolescents nearing that age when their lives can get complicated.

Life concerns aren’t just for adults—and neither is your hot tub. A home spa can help your teens manage their stress in the same ways it can help you deal with anxiety. Enjoying a warm soak with your kids can provide you with a solid foundation for easing their fears and offering support and gratification, and it can give them the opportunity they need to confide in you about the things on their minds—school, friends, sports, and more.

By sharing a relaxing soak and meaningful conversation with your tween or teen you may help them in the following areas:

  • Overcome shyness and build self-esteem. You probably remember your own awkward years of adolescence and struggling to find your comfort zone. When you engage your teens regularly in conversation, you can help them feel valued and reinforce their confidence.
  • Develop more positive behaviors at home and at school. As a role model for your children, your positive actions can help them become better and more mature communicators. By learning through your example, they can get a head start on interacting in more meaningful ways with their peers.
  • Create great memories. The experiences you provide your kids with today will influence the adults they will become. One way to ensure that your kids look back fondly on the time you spend together now is to carve out time for them individually and mix in some fun with the thoughtful conversations.

A bonus benefit of a family spa is that your children might think of it as something very cool that could be shared with their friends. Supervising your kids and their friends in your spa can earn you major parent points and provide you with opportunities to better know their buddies.

CHOOSE THE PERFECT HOT TUB FOR YOUR FAMILY

To enjoy the benefits of spending time with family in a hot tub, you’ll need to choose a suitable spa. Size should be your primary consideration since you’ll want plenty of seating. The four-seat Hot Spring® Limelight® Beam™ spa is a great option for an average family. Large families might consider the five-, six- and seven-seat models from the Hot Spring Limelight® Collection and the Highlife® Collection.

No matter which Hot Spring spa you choose, reconnecting with your partner and children will prove to be one of its greatest benefits.

PERSONAL WELLNESS TIPS: HOME HOT TUB EDITION

Wednesday, May 8th, 2019

In a busy world, we don’t always think about our personal wellness as much as we should. In addition to work and family responsibilities, we often find ourselves bogged down in a blizzard of personal alerts and messages thanks to technology. It can be overwhelming and take a toll on our overall well-being.

While the words personal wellness may conjure images of exercise routines, salad plates, and cleanses, sometimes the best thing you can do to feel less pressured is nothing. When you unplug, unwind, and simply relax, you can free yourself from distraction, reduce anxiety, and calm your mind. After all, the mental aspect of wellness is every bit as important as the physical.

When you have a home hot tub, taking time every morning or evening to relax and to recharge your mind while relieving physical tension can help you welcome or end each day as a wonderful experience to be enjoyed—not as an obstacle course to be completed. Your hot tub can be your own private retreat in the evening, too—a warm, safe place in which you can enjoy a soothing jet massage, uncoil from life’s demands, and reflect on all that’s positive.

Improving your well-being and day-to-day outlook doesn’t have to be exerting. Here are a few tips for using your hot tub to improve your personal wellness.

PERSONAL WELLNESS TIP 1: USE YOUR HOT TUB REGULARLY

Healthy daily habits can form a solid wellness foundation. When you make a hot tub soak a part of your daily routine, you can reap the therapeutic benefits of warm water immersion. In addition to helping you relax, the heat and buoyancy of spa water combined with a jet massage offers the following physical advantages:

  • Heat. Warm water dilates blood vessels, improving blood flow and allowing oxygen and nutrients to quickly reach your muscles. This replenishment is especially crucial after a hard workout.
  • Buoyancy. Floating in the warm water of your spa takes the weight off your tired muscles and joints, allowing you to experience relief from the normal force of gravity.
  • Massage. The water pressure of a jet massage kneads major muscle groups and helps to reduce swelling and compress muscles to relieve fatigue.

Taking even small steps to improve well-being, including a brief hot tub soak on a regular basis, can help alleviate some physical discomfort, relieve anxiety, and prevent stress from building up, which can have negative effects on your emotional health. So, daily relief can act as anxiety inoculation and help you begin or end each day with a fresh state of mind.

PERSONAL WELLNESS TIP 2: LEAVE YOUR PHONE IN THE HOUSE

Technology sure does make our lives easier, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that the devices we own benefit our overall well-being. As a communication device, your smartphone is your connection to work, family, and friends. Yet, inasmuch as you rely on it to simplify your life, it demands your attention. If you’ve ever gone out and accidentally left your phone at home, you’ve probably felt its tug. Perhaps you even returned home to retrieve it. When overused, technology can be associated with health problems.

To prevent your smartphone from getting in the way of good health, leave it in the house when you soak. Or turn it on Do Not Disturb and use it only for streaming music through a Bluetooth® audio system. The separation from texts, calls, and social media will allow you to focus on relaxation as the hot water soothes your body and mind and the massage jets work to release tension. A little time away from your phone and other devices can have a positive effect on your outlook and personal wellness.

Listening to music in your hot tub can foster a state of relaxation.

PERSONAL WELLNESS TIP 3: LISTEN TO THE SOUNDS OF THE WATER

If you live in the city, you have to contend with more noise than those who live in the suburbs. The peace and quiet you rely on after a long, stressful day might be interrupted often by the din of street conversation, heavy traffic and trucks rumbling by, or even jets flying overhead. Unwelcome noise can add to feelings of anxiety. But even urban dwellers can find tranquility in a hot tub.

When you turn on your spa’s massaging jets to help reduce pain and work out the tension in your calves, thighs, lower back, and shoulders, you also activate an effective white noise generator. The result cancels out irritating city noises that could otherwise disrupt your quiet time. It better complements the more peaceful sounds of nature around you.

Alternatively, many hot tub manufacturers offer a variety of entertainment system options. Hot Spring® spa optional accessories include a wireless Bluetooth® audio system and a 22” HD monitor. You can listen to your favorite podcasts and playlists in your spa or catch up on a TV series as you relax.

Using your hot tub before bed can help you ease into a good night’s sleep.

PERSONAL WELLNESS TIP 4: SOAK BEFORE YOU SLEEP

After a long day, nothing’s more satisfying than a good night’s sleep. But not everyone sleeps well. Seventy percent of adults in the United States report not getting the rest they need. If you’re kept awake by worries or aches and pains, you likely crave a way to help you sleep better.

A home hot tub can help. A short soak about an hour before bed can help relax your body and prepare your mind for a satisfying sleep. As you soak in the warm water of your spa, your body temperature rises. When you get out of the spa, your body temperature drops, signaling the brain that it’s time for sleep.

Improving personal wellness by making a hot tub a part of your daily routine is a simple way to reduce stress and feel good physically and mentally. By using your spa regularly, you’ll reap all of the benefits of a hot tub lifestyle and experience greater feelings of contentment.
